# Artwork Prep for Embroidered Hats and Leather Patches

Good artwork gets you a proof the same day and a hat that looks like your logo. Here is exactly what Battle Born Clothing needs for embroidery and for laser-engraved leather, and the few things that do not translate.

## File types

## Rules for embroidery

- Text 0.25 inches tall or more on the hat. Below that letters fill in.
- Lines 1 mm or wider. Hairlines become a single wobbly running stitch.
- Up to 6,000 stitches is the standard price; a 2.5 inch logo with normal fills usually lands between 3,000 and 6,000.
- Colors: thread, not Pantone. We match the closest Rapos thread and note it on the proof; 2 to 4 colors is typical.
- Digitizing is $18.99 one time. Standard 2-day.

## Rules for a leather patch

- Engraving is one tone: burned or not burned. Convert the logo to solid black-and-white.
- Line weights 0.5 pt or heavier. Finer lines disappear in the grain.
- Negative space works well: a logo reversed out of a dark engraved field reads from across a room.
- No setup fee. The laser cuts the patch shape and engraves in one pass from your vector.

## Converting a logo that is not vector

If all you have is a JPG, send it anyway. Simple logos can be redrawn; we will tell you on the quote if yours needs it and what that costs. Do not send a JPG that has been enlarged in Word; send the biggest original you have.

## Proof

Every order gets a digital proof showing the logo or patch at true size on the chosen hat and color. Nothing is stitched or engraved until you approve it. Turnaround is 28 days from that approval.

## Questions
**Can one file be used for both the patch and the embroidery?** Usually. We derive the one-tone patch version from the vector and digitize the thread version separately.

**Do you keep my files?** Yes. Digitized files and patch art are kept on hand so reorders skip setup.
